The AGM-65 Maverick is an air-to-ground missile designed for close air support missions. It uses passive infrared tracking, and is optimized for strikes against vehicles, ships, and small buildings. The Maverick uses a special targeting system which is integrated into the missile itself. Once launched, it autonomously tracks its target, making it a "launch and leave" weapon.
